Protected high moor of national importance.
The ridgeway in Amden offers a hiking experience at the foot of the Mattstock and Gulmen over extended alpine meadows and impressive moor landscape. Unique views into Toggenburg and Glarnerland.

The ridgeway has a length of 8.7km and is easy on foot. Starting off point is the mountain station of the chair-lift Mattstock from where one needs about 2 1/2 hours to traverse the ridgeway to Arvenbüel On the way there are a number of fire/barbecue sites, restaurants and a children's playground. From Arvenbüel one gets back comfortably by Amden-Weesen Transport service to Amden village or directly to Ziegelbrücke railway station.

Operates daily from 1st June to 1st November (in good weather conditions).
Times: 8.30 a.m. - 11.50 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 4.45 p.m.
