The ridgeway in Amden offers a hiking experience at the foot of the Mattstock and Gulmen over extended alpine meadows and impressive moor landscape. Unique views into Toggenburg and Glarnerland. The ridgeway has a length of 8.7km and is easy on foot. Starting off point is the mountain station of the chair-lift Mattstock from where one needs about 2 1/2 hours to traverse the ridgeway to Arvenbüel On the way there are a number of fire/barbecue sites, restaurants and a children's playground. From Arvenbüel one gets back comfortably by Amden-Weesen Transport service to Amden village or directly to Ziegelbrücke railway station.
