Weesen

The riviera on the Walensee

The pleasant little town of Weesen, directly on the Walensee is quite simply charming.

Weesen lies sleepily on the banks of the Walensee. In the background, tower the sunny mountains of the Speermassif. Weesen is a place steeped in history and over a long period of time was considered the main trade centre on the Walensee. Also many illustrious visitors came to the health resort of Weesen at the beginning of the 20th century, among them, for example, the writer, Hermann Hesse.

Summer
In summer, Weesen invites you to relax and recharge your batteries. The Walensee and the mountains are cool and invigorating. On over 110km of marked hiking paths, everyone can find something to suit them. From gentle walks along the lake to alpine hikes up on the mountain peaks, it is all here. In addition, there is the draw of the water, be it on the lake or at one of the highest Swiss waterfalls.

Winter
In winter, Weesen, with a choice of ski resorts, is ideal for anyone who wants to let off steam. Amden, Flumserberg, Pizol, Braunwald and Elm are all not far away from Weesen.

There is also, a ski bus which transports winter sports fans free-of-charge to Amden. In winter, Amden is considered an excellent family skiing area. Sportbahnen Amden's seven lift installations transport skiers and snowboarders up into the Ammler mountains. Energetic downhill runs in the Mattstock area or a more gentle atmosphere in the Arvenbüel ski area. There is for sure something for everyone on the 20 km of pistes.

The ski and snowboard school has a good reputation and gives instruction every year to countless children as well as adults. Even celebrities have been seen in the Ammler Ski School.
Amden also has lots to offer non-skiers too: wonderful winter walks, marked snowshoe trails, an ice rink and one of the nicest, classic, cross-country ski tracks. Amden: A winter paradise in the foothills of the Alps.
